Beauty And The Beast at Thelma Gaylord PAC

Beauty and The Beast, the musical, started out on Broadway back in 1994. There's no reason to sugarcoat this, it was forgotten by the success of the Lion King. Since that date, there have been various attempts to put the story back into the mainstream theater scene. After an amazing run in London's West End, and an extensive tour of Australia, this new version is currently on a US tour. One of the stops is going to be in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Sunday 25th January 2026.

In other versions of the show, the backgrounds and the style of the costumes were both rather dark. This brought a lot of weight on The Beast character. This current production is taking a completely different approach. The focus is more on Belle, as it should be. This time around, the audience is treated to thoughtfully designed sets and colorful costumes that light up the stage. When you combine that with the uplifting soundtrack, you can see why both the British and Australian theater goers took a liking to this revival. Forgive the spoilers, but the magnificent entrance that Belle's character and the different members of her French village have, is the perfect contrast to The Beast's world. What happened in both the UK and Australia was that audiences were incredibly amazed by this point in the show. Gaston's introduction and musical solo tend to be loved by fans. It's actually Belle who makes this story go though, and for this US Tour they've hired a great actress for the role.
