The Book of Mormon is a show about our views on religion, specifically of the journey of Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, who through creative ways, attempt to convert villagers of a local village in Uganda. This Tony Award-winning musical, that has proceeded to have successful productions in the U.S., London, and Australia, running for more than a decade to date, unmasks the way religious stories are told, with comedy through classical Broadway.

Lauded as one of the longest-running Broadway shows of all time, The Book of Mormon has been a fan favorite all over the world. In its several local city productions in the United States, London’s West End, and Australia to name a few, the musical comedy has been met with an impressive reception from theatre fans and sold-out shows. In Oklahoma City, it is expected to be no different as the performance on Friday 10th October 2025 will be running in Thelma Gaylord PAT At Civic Center Music Hall , with a long history of running the finest plays and musicals, and praised by audiences because of its marvelous sound system and beautiful interior decor.

The Book of Mormon is a play about religious conversion, specifically Mormon missionaries named Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, as they are ordered to represent and preach their religion’s faith and teachings to a small local village in Uganda. They come to find out however, the locals are indifferent to their preaching, as they are fighting against more dangerous issues. The pair then clash because of their methods to convert the locals, with Cunnigham’s often involving adding fictitious tales to his teachings.

In more than ten years running, The Book of Mormon has accumulated several awards in both Broadway and West End, including nine Tony Awards out of fourteen total nominations, including for Best Musical (received right after its opening night in 2011), four Drama Desk Awards, and three Outer Circle Critics awards. Across the pond, in the West End production of the show which debuted in 2013 at the Prince of Wales theatre, it won four Laurence Olivier Awards again including for Best Musical. Then from the other side of the world, from the Australian tour in 2017, it also won two Helpmann Awards that also included for Best Musical.

Financially, The Book of Mormon has also achieved incredible financial success with more than 4,600 performances as of the end of 2023. It has grossed over $1 billion dollars worldwide, and was even contributed to by the church through ad buys of ad space, billboards, bus advertising space, and other marketing campaigns in the several destinations in which the show appeared in.
